Garth Hill – Head Trainer and Owner

Garth is the Head Trainer and New owner of CrossFit Hibiscus Coast. Garth is an experienced CrossFit athlete and Trainer. Garth has been doing CrossFit for over 10 years and has competed at the highest of competitions in the sport, nationally and regionally. Garth started his CrossFit journey with CrossFit Auckland in 2010, prior to moving up to CrossFit Hibiscus Coast in 2014 and then taking over CrossFit Hibiscus Coast in 2020. Garth has competed at CrossFit Regionals in 2011 and 2013. Garth holds his Level One Certificate in CrossFit and a Diploma in Sporting Performance from the Sports Institute of Otago and his Level 3 and 4 certification in Personal Training.

John Taurua – Part Time Trainer

John is a member, programmer and part time trainer of CrossFit Hibiscus Coast. He has always had a passion for all areas of sports and fitness. John started CrossFitting in 2011 in Afghanistan with a bunch of Americans and has never looked back. John has competed at the highest level of CrossFit in New Zealand and has a true passion for this style of training.  John holds his Level 3 Certificate in Fitness Consultancy, CrossFit Level 2 Certificate, CrossFit Level One Certificate, CrossFit Gymnastics Certificate, CrossFit Football Certificate, CrossFit Strongman Certificate, CrossFit Scaling Certificate, Certificate in Therapeutic and Sports massage.

Quanita Taurua – Part Time Trainer

Quanita is one of CrossFit Hibiscus Coasts experienced part time trainers. Quanita has been a CrossFit Athlete and Trainer for over 8 years and has competed at a very high level in CrossFit, recently placing top 50 in the world in her age division in the sport. Quanita is a school teacher. She is a very experienced CrossFit Coach and is always looking to grow herself and her athletes. Quanita holds her Level One Certificate in CrossFit and her CrossFit Kids Trainer Certificate.

Shane Ata – Part Time Trainer

Shane has been a part of CrossFit Hibiscus Coast for approximately 7 years and is born and bred on the Hibiscus Coast. Shane is a hardworking self employed concrete layer who uses CrossFit as a get away from his busy schedule. Shane has always been a active person having played Rugby League locally and then finding his way in to CrossFit. He has competed at many national competitions in the Masters grade and definitely holds his own. Shane is a great coach and always keen to help anyone. Shane holds his Level One Certificate in CrossFit.

Matt Bridge – Part Time Trainer

Matty is a Part Time Trainer at CrossFit Hibiscus Coast. He has been a member with us for approximately 3 years and has been CrossFitting for this amount of time as well. Matty picked up many of the fundamentals of CrossFit really quickly. He has come from a active background playing Rugby and Rugby League. He has a passion for Powerlifting holding numerous regionals titles and records. Although reasonably quiet by nature, Matty has a follow me and I will show you nature. He continues to grow as a coach and is keen to help anyone and everyone in the community. Matty holds his Level One Certificate in CrossFit.

Hennessey McNamara – Part Time Trainer

Hennessey is a Part Time Trainer at CrossFit Hibiscus Coast. Hennessey has been a member with us for approximately 3 years and shows great drive with her training. She is a pre-school teacher by trade and has a great passion for physical training and recently ‘Powerlifting’. Hennessey holds numerous regional titles in Power lifting and is our newest coach. Hennessey is super enthusiastic and willing to share her new found knowledge, passion and skills with everyone.  Hennessey holds her Level One Certificate in CrossFit.
