John Taurua – Head Coach

John is the Head Coach and Co-Owner of CrossFit Hibiscus Coast. John is ex military, having served 16 years in the Royal New Zealand Navy. He has always had a passion for all areas of sports and fitness. John started CrossFitting in 2011 in Afghanistan with a bunch of Americans and has never looked back. John has competed at the highest level of CrossFit in New Zealand and has a true passion for this style of training. If you are willing to work hard, then John is willing to help you. John holds his Level 3 Certificate in Fitness Consultancy, CrossFit Level 2 Certificate, CrossFit Level One Certificate, CrossFit Gymnastics Certificate, CrossFit Football Certificate, CrossFit Strongman Certificate, CrossFit Scaling Certificate, Certificate in Therapeutic and Sports massage.

 

 

Quanita Taurua – Manager / Trainer

Quanita is the Gym Manager and Co-Owner of CrossFit Hibiscus Coast.  Quanita has been a CrossFit Athlete and Trainer for over 8 years and has competed at a high level as well as socially within the sport. Quanita is a school teacher by trade and spends her time keeping CrossFit Hibiscus Coast ticking over, managing our trainers, training our superstar athletes and keeping things in the office tidy. Quanita is a experienced CrossFit Coach and is always looking to grow as a coach, athlete and Kids coach. Quanita holds her Level One Certificate in CrossFit and her CrossFit Kids Trainer Certificate.

 

Shane Ata – Part Time Trainer

Shane has been a part of CrossFit Hibiscus Coast for approximately 5 years and is born and bred on the Hibiscus Coast. Shane is a hardworking self employed concrete layer who uses CrossFit as a get away from his busy schedule. Shane has always been a active person having played Rugby League locally and then finding his way in to CrossFit. He has competed at many national competitions in the Masters grade and definitely holds his own. Shane is a great coach and always keen to help anyone. Shane holds his Level One Certificate in CrossFit.

 


Garth Hill – Part Time Trainer

Garth is a Part Time Trainer at CrossFit Hibiscus Coast. Garth has been a member with us for over 4 years and has been around in the CrossFit scene for approximately 9 years. Garth has competed at CrossFit Regionals in 2011 and 2013. He has competed at the highest of levels of CrossFit in New Zealand and he holds a wealth of knowledge as a trainer and CrossFitter. Garth is very keen to continue to grow as a coach and will always be willing to help you. Garth holds his Level One Certificate in CrossFit and his Level 3 and Level 4 certificates in Personal Training.

 

 

Matt Bridge – Part Time Trainer

Matty is a Part Time Trainer at CrossFit Hibiscus Coast. Matty has been a member with us for approximately 2 years and has been CrossFitting for this amount of time as well. Matty picked up many of the fundamentals of CrossFit really quickly. He has come from a active background playing Rugby and Rugby League. He has done some Powerlifting and spent a lot of time training in Health and Fitness. Although reasonably quiet by nature, Matty continues to grow as a coach and is keen to help anyone and everyone in the community. Matty holds his Level One Certificate in CrossFit.

 

 

 

Nicole Koch – Part Time Trainer

Nicole is a Part Time Trainer at CrossFit Hibiscus Coast. Nicole has been a member with us for approximately 2.5 years and shows great drive with her training. She is a Firefighter by trade and loves to train really hard. She has competed at the International Firefighters Challenge in the USA and holds great times Nationally in this tough sport. Nicole has a very friendly nature and continues to grow as a coach. If you are willing to learn then she is willing to help you.  Nicole holds her Level One Certificate in CrossFit.
